More about me
Hi, I’m Katie, thanks for looking at my profile, and if you’re here because you’re pregnant or a new parent then huge congratulations!
I live on the Bournemouth/Poole border with my husband and two children, and my passion is supporting families through the huge transformation we go through in pregnancy, birth and new parenthood whether it’s for the first, second, third or fourth time.
As your doula my aim is to help to look after YOU at a time when you’re all-consumed with looking after your new baby, walking beside you as you adjust to this new life and find your inner power as a parent. It’s such a privilege being able to support families at such an important time. I love creating a safe, supportive and judgement-free space for mums-to-be and new parents to feel heard and validated, and providing holistic, bespoke care to help you feel rested, nurtured and better equipped to navigate the beautiful but sometimes messy reality of life with a newborn.
Becoming a mum was simultaneously the most wonderful and the most challenging thing I’ve experienced. I struggled in the early days, and while I found my way through I wish I’d had someone in my corner through that time who was there just for me, to listen, support, and provide emotional and practical support and provide a safe space to say some of the things I was feeling out loud.
As your doula there are lots of ways I can support you, including helping you work through your choices around birth, helping you prepare to look after yourself and maximise joy in the newborn period, and providing practical and emotional support to you and your partner in whatever way you need on that particular day.
I’m particularly passionate about breastfeeding support if that’s something you want to do, as I know how emotional it can be when challenges come up, and how hard it can be to decipher all the information you learn in pregnancy when your baby is actually here. I struggled with a number of challenges through both my breastfeeding journeys, and if it wasn’t for the kind, patient support of one person I wouldn’t have been able to breastfeed for anywhere near as long as I wanted to. I am a breastfeeding peer supporter, and I spend a lot of my spare time completing additional training and development to help you get the best possible start to your breastfeeding journey,
I’d love to chat and get to know you better. I offer a free zoom/phone connection call to learn more about you and the kind of support that would make your postpartum easier and more joyful, and for you to get a feel for me and decide whether I could be the right doula for you.
