My name is Sian and I am a birthworker based in north Herts. I live in Hitchin with my husband, three children and two stepchildren, and we also have a dog and a cat!
I have always been a doula, I just didn’t know it. It is through my own journey into motherhood that I learned how empowering it is to be fully supported – emotionally, physically and with all the information available. My first birth was an emergency caesarean, my second birth was a vaginal birth in hospital and my third birth was at home in my living room.
Like many other doulas, I heard the call and knew that I wanted to support other people through their pregnancy, labour, birth and the postpartum period. I’ve “doulaed” several friends and family members over the years but I wanted to make it official, to make it my work, to be able to reach more people, and so in 2019 I started on a new path of learning. You can read more about my training so far here.
I have supported and do support all kinds of births: in hospital, at home, first-time parents, parents of many, VBAC, planned caesarean, unplanned caesarean. The only thing that is important to me about how you give birth is that it is your decision.
I am also a birth photographer, hypnobirthing practitioner and placenta remedies specialist.
As pregnancy and childbirth is such an intimate and special time, it is important that you find the right Doula to support you. There is a Doula out there for everyone, so I invite you to get in touch so that we can arrange a chat to begin with and take things from there, and see if I am the one for you. Sian x
