More about me
I’m a self-confessed birth geek and love supporting families through the exciting yet vulnerable periods of pregnancy, birth and early parenthood. Its a privilege each and every time I’m invited to walk this path with a family.
As a champion of physiological birth, I predominantly support births within the family home where I believe birth physiology is best respected and supported, but if you’re aiming for a physiological birth in another location – let’s chat about how I can support that!
I’m passionate about the families I work with receiving individualised care, with a focus on helping women with a ‘high risk’ pregnancy explore their options, the available evidence, and forming their own birth plans tailored to their individual circumstances. Many of the families I work with want support to birth outside of local hospital guidelines, as your doula I have complete trust in your ability to make the best decisions for yourself and your baby if you have the information and support required, and understand that one size fits all policies aren’t going to work for everyone.
My relevant training includes:
– Developing Doulas Course
– Mentorship with Samantha Gadsden (founder of Home Birth Support Group UK)
– KGHypnobirthing
– Love Your Birth Hypnobirthing
– Michel Odent & Liliana Lammers Paramana Doula Course
– Born to Carry Babywearing Peer Support
– BTec National Diploma in Early Years
– Current and clean DBS check
My journey to doula-hood started the way many doula journeys begin – with my own experience of pregnancy, the maternity system and birth itself! Two high risk pregnancies, two ‘outside of policy’ home births, one fabulous doula (with Baby 2), two gorgeously empowered births which went (mostly) the way I hopes, and two gorgeous water-babies at the end!
Having felt the lack of support and coercion that can come from the maternity system, I know how valuable the support and guidance of an experienced birthkeeper brings and I look forward to walking alongside you as you get ready to meet your new baby.
I cover the South Essex area for in person support, and can provide phone/online support worldwide.
