More about me

Hi, I’m Kate.

I live in Petworth, West Sussex, with my partner and our mischievous miniature dachshund, Dolly. Originally from Liverpool, I’ve called the South my home for over 20 years. My background is in education leadership, but my passion led me to become a doula, where I support families through one of life’s most transformative journeys.

As a compassionate doula, I offer a range of services tailored to meet each family’s unique needs. My approach focuses on creating a warm, calm and supportive environment, where you feel informed, confident and genuinely heard. I provide physical support, including gentle antenatal and postpartum massage, to ease discomfort and encourage relaxation. I’m also here to support those navigating baby loss or pregnancy after loss, offering a safe, nurturing space to help you feel grounded.

I am especially passionate about postpartum planning and support, knowing how vital a well-prepared transition into parenthood can be. Together, we’ll create a customised plan for your rest, support and bonding time in those precious early weeks. As a trained Mindful Breastfeeding Practitioner, I offer one-on-one guidance on topics like latch techniques and baby’s feeding cues, empowering you to begin breastfeeding with confidence.

In addition to supporting labour, birth and the immediate postpartum period, I offer antenatal planning sessions. We’ll explore your birth plans, comfort techniques for labour and practical ways to prepare, so you feel connected, nurtured and ready to make informed choices.

My journey to becoming a doula has been deeply influenced by my own experiences with birth, loss and motherhood. I have four grown-up children, Sophie, Martha, Rudy and Mags, along with three wonderful grandchildren. I also experienced the heartbreak of losing two baby boys, Tom and Isaac, in the second trimester. My births ranged from a medicalised first birth, where I felt somewhat disconnected, to later births supported by incredible midwives and women.

These experiences, both joyful and challenging, have shown me the importance of compassionate, individualised care. I understand the complex emotions surrounding birth and parenthood and I aim to provide the empathetic, steady support that I once received. Watching my daughter Sophie confidently navigate her own births has been an inspiring reminder of the power of support and preparation.

I believe every family deserves a doula’s unwavering presence before, during and after birth. As your doula, I’ll honour your choices, offer evidence-based answers and create a calm, supportive environment where you can embrace each moment. Whether offering comfort during labour, guidance in postpartum, or reassurance throughout pregnancy, I’m here to walk alongside you.

Being a doula is a privilege. I am here to support you through every step of this incredible journey. I would be honoured to be your doula.
