More about me
DOULA
Hi! I’m Zara, a birth and postnatal Doula based in Surrey. I set up Doulabud, in 2010 in order to support local expectant and postpartum families on their very personal and unique journeys through pregnancy, birth and the early weeks of parenthood. I stand alongside my clients offering information, practical and emotional support and I believe strongly that the gentle guidance and companionship of a doula should be available to everyone. I understand that everyone is different and so I choose to work flexibly, led by my clients’ needs, tailoring my support to suit their individual circumstances. I can honestly say that I absolutely love my work – one of the greatest pleasures of this role is meeting new people and seeing them grow into confident parents! I am a proud member and Course Facilitator for Developing Doulas and it brings me huge joy and satisfaction supporting new Doulas on their path into birth work.
Alongside my work as a Doula, I am an Infant Feeding Specialist with the Association of Breastfeeding Mothers and the charity, Maddie’s Miracle. I am a Mindful Breastfeeding Practitioner and Holistic Sleep Coach. I offer Birth Trauma Rewind and Postpartum abdominal massage and am a KG trained Hypnobirthing Practitioner. I have recently completed my tongue tie assessor training with Carmelle Gentle. The in-depth and brilliant training is proving extremely useful, given the high numbers of babies presenting with feeding difficulties.
DOULA PRIMARY COMPANIONSHIP
I love nurturing and guiding new Doulas as they start feeling their way into the role. I support birth and postnatal Doulas and have excellent experience, having started out as a mentor for Doula UK in 2013. My role as a Companion is to be your doula. To help you navigate all aspects of your new role with confidence. I work hard to model being the best Doula I can be. Each relationship is unique and I really strive to give whatever support is needed, just as I do with my clients.
As your Companion:
- I’m here for you as part of a wider community network.
- You will have access to me and to a WhatsApp group
- I facilitate Zoom check in sessions, six times a year.
- I will support you unconditionally and always encourage you to take responsibility for how you go about building your business and client base.
- We can have a chat about the fee structure and anything else that helps us decide if we’re a good fit!
